Meet Dr. Tamara Mendez
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Dr. Tamara Mendez earned her Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia, PA, in 2015 and completed advanced studies in the anterior segment—the cornea, iris, and lens. Through participation in externships, conferences, and research, Dr. Mendez gained experience and demonstrated expertise in all areas of optometry.
In addition to her studies, Dr. Mendez served as vice president of students in Optometric Services to Humanity (SOSH), where she helped fundraise, coordinate, and participate in a humanitarian medical mission to Haiti. She and her colleagues treated thousands of patients, many of them children.
As an optometry resident in primary care at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Dr. Mendez received training focused on pediatric care and binocular vision.
Dr. Mendez is passionate about providing superior care to children, teens, and adults. She utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide her patients with the most accurate diagnoses and best treatments available today.
Dr. Mendez performs comprehensive, diabetic, and glaucoma exams and specialty contact lens fittings. Her expertise is in diagnosing, treating, and managing binocular vision conditions and myopia management. Dr. Mendez is currently developing a dry eye clinic with a focus on eye rejuvenation services.
